Lots of sun, warm turquoise water, a nice breeze and many quiet small bays and inlets, with the pine forests reaching down to the sea, are the main “ingredients” of a cruise along the Lycian coast. There is a great choice of itineraries along this beautiful coast, still one of the last unspoiled shores of the Mediterranean.

Our home base is Göcek, situated in the far north-west corner of the Gulf of Fethiye . From the port of Göcek you enter an archipelago of various islands and bays. You can easily spend a whole week around Göcek bay and the Gulf of Fethiye without ever going out on the open sea.

During the past few years Göcek and its area has grown into one of the most popular cruising areas that attracts sailors from all over the world. It can happen that you lie in your yacht next to Dustin Hoffman or Sting (with the only difference being that their yachts are usually somewhat bigger!)

Historically the area is also of great interest. The whole region once belonged to Lycia (around 700 B.C.– 500 A.D.) and you can still visit the well-known Lycian tombs, some visible from the sea, or the ruins of Lydea (not far from Wall Bay). From later periods there are remains from Roman and Byzantine times, some of which are now submerged, and can be seen through the clear waters under your yacht.

The south Mediterranean weather pattern guarantees perfect sailing: sun, a lovely sea water temperature, and the “meltem” that blows every afternoon during all the summer months, but not as strongly as in the Aegean.

Daily distances vary between 5 and 35 nautical miles. The lazy sailor might just sail to the next bay. If you want to leave the archipelago and sail out on the open sea, then to the east you will reach Kalkan after a couple of hours, with Kas and Kekova lying beyond. To the west is Ekincik (not far from the Dalyan Delta) and Marmaris.

Our two-week flotilla program in 2003 will take the eastern route to Kekova, while the one-week program will be around the Gulf of Fethiye.
